Cerebration

Thoughts are private for a reason. Imagine if we all were to say everything we think. We've often heard people telling others to "speak your mind" but should they really? Since we do not know exactly what is going through a person's mind, and we should never assume we do, should this be something we encourage? Many of us find ourselves repeating positive affirmations to keep negative thoughts out. Clearly there are good thoughts and bad thoughts. There is positive thinking and negative thinking.

I believe there are some thoughts that we can control and there are those which are intrusive, popping up suddenly. Some of us would think twice before saying something that would cause discomfort to someone we care about while some impulsively speak first then think about it after. There are some thoughts that are followed by actions and there are also wandering thoughts where our minds go in all sorts of directions, sometimes thinking things we shouldn't and at  times daydreaming or imagining our lives in a different way.

Have you ever started typing a response to someone because of something they said which didn't sit well, but find yourself deleting what you wrote before sending. Your mind is at work making the right decision. How we choose to deal with the thoughts that enter our minds is up to us. What we allow to take root and act on plays a major role in how we live our lives. Just as grass is beneficial to our environment so are positive thoughts to our daily lives.

"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."

Philippians 4:8 KJV
